Fire Academy
This was an advertising photo shoot for the Community College of Aurora focusing on their Fire Academy. It’s an intense program pushing the students into situations they would encounter in their every day job as a Firefighter, while testing them the entire time. This was a really fun shoot because we got to just shoot along side of the students as they were being tested in the field. So even though it was an advertising shoot, it had much more of an editorial feel. There were no models, makeup, props or wardrobe. No posing for the camera, just caught in the moment documentary style photography. It’s a different style of shooting which requires a different set of skills. So it’s fun to break them out now and again. I typically try and mimic this style in my advertising photography anyway, so it worked well, but it was different just being a crew of 2 and going out and having fun!
Thank to the Sable Altura Fire Department for your hospitality and education! I learned so much and we are all incredibly grateful for the risks you all take everyday. It enables us all to live safer and pursue our independent passions. I can’t wait to visit again.
