Village Inn / Bakers Square shoot

This was an advertising photo shoot for VICORP, Inc, which is the parent company of Village Inn and Bakers Square. They needed 7 photos of different menu items from each of their restaurants.

Our food stylist on the shoot was Camille Renk from Los Angeles.  This was the first time I had a chance to work with Camille, and she did a beautiful job.  The propping was done by Linda Kriebel, who is a Denver local, and she brought in some great options and opinions as well.

We went for a morning light feeling with shallow depth of field in order to get a slight editorial feel to an advertising product.  The pancake photograph was our “action” shot of the shoot, and although we came across a few challenging elements, it worked out nicely.

Overall, I am really happy with the results, and we all had a great time shooting last week.  It was a pleasure to work with such an enjoyable group, our team and the client included.  :)

Restaurant Photos

I got a call to photograph some food at O’s Restaurant in the Westin Hotel in Westminster, Colorado.  I learned that Chef Ian excels in the Molecular Gastronomy cooking technique.  Watching my own ‘limited’ amounts of cooking-television, I’ve grown an interest in this type of cooking, so it was an exciting shoot for me to do.

This feature article is for the YellowScene Magazine.  They are producing their Top Dishes of the Year article, and Chef Ian’s “tasting menu” is at the top of the list.

It was amazing to see how Chef Ian put together his dishes by compressing fruit and instantly freezing ice creams.  Overall, the process was beautiful, and even more so the food was lovely.

Here are a couple of food photographs, along with a portrait of the chef.  It turned out to be a nice editorial.
