This was a photo shoot for the YellowScene Magazine December issue. They wanted to showcase their advertiser’s products in a 5 page spread photo shoot, with a story about one family’s Christmas season. Each item in each photo is for sale by one of their advertisers. So, we did an editorial photography shoot in Colorado at a model home in Erie Commons.
The first image showcased a family going out to a holiday party. That was followed by them going outside to put up Christmas decorations. We then shot Jordan, the young boy, searching for gifts throughout the house, and finally on Christmas morning opening his bundle of presents.
It was a challenging shoot to complete within the tight time constraints, but it came out just as the art director had hoped. They will also be showing some additional images of their “family portrait” and detailed shots of the advertiser’s products in the December issue.

Chef Rob Corey is a Personal Chef and Sommelier in Denver, Colorado. I was asked to photograph an editorial on him showcasing one of his dinners at the magazine editor’s home. The editor chose a “secret ingredient” of cinnamon the night before, and Rob whipped out a menu. He produced a lovely 6 course meal, with a few of the dishes highlighted here. Chef Rob is also a teacher at the Art Institute of Colorado, and brought along some of his students so they could participate in the learning experience.
The food was wonderful and the experience was serene. Rob is a very charismatic person with a great deal of knowledge to share, which made it overall a great night. You can contact him at www.thefrenchmanner.com.

These are some examples of image transfers that I have done using some of my advertising photographs. This is an old technique that still has it’s occasional use in advertising photography, however is mostly used for fine art.
It’s a lot of fun to go back and use these types of techniques on images created in the past. It brings me back to more of the hands on processing and artistic side that originally got me into photography.
